Our French school specializes in teaching French to 40+ learners.

We remain 100% no artificial intelligence.

See the lady in this video? She started from zero, did the exercises on the website and learned French.

Thanks to our no artificial intelligence policy, she used her brain and got very good at French!

Today, she is fluent.

How does our course work?

ouicommunicate lesson plan

In 5 easy steps, each student has their own study plan. Your teacher will recommend specific parts of our French program, which you then complete in your own time. When you feel ready, meet up again for an evaluation of your skills.

No artificial intelligence?

None at all. We value the human element in regards to the relationship with have with our students and the help we can bring them. In our school, there is always a human being that you can reach and a real piece of personalized advice you can enjoy.

Artificial Intelligence has fast come to be a new divinity for some. But the timeless principles have shown up that only steel forges steel. We grow in adversity and we learn by doing.

Our French course uses videos and exercises sheets that students can print out. You can use a simple pen to write down your answers. The explanations are given in a rather more traditional way, that makes sense to adult learners.

After you have met up with Chris, he will suggest the type of study plan that will suit you best. When you have made progress, you can book an assessment any time you want…with a human being!

Why are we old-fashioned?

The simplistic promise of AI is to do alsorts of tasks for humans and facilitate their burden. At OuiCommunicate, we don’t reject this out of philosophy but rather because there is nothing to reject or to accept.

No matter how evolved AI becomes, language learning is dependent on factors that are psychological, practical and subconscious. The personality of each of us influences our results as learners. No amount of AI will change these principles.

Even with unlimited funds and the most performing AI device, the purpose of the game is to somehow discipline ourselves to acquire a language. People feel lazy, or they’re not in the mood. Sometimes it is our self-image that blocks good results from happening.

AI in languages would be like saying that it can also makes us more spiritual or religious. It may work on paper, in the minds of the builders of such devices. But the seasoned language teacher will just smile at these naive calculations.

Why we do what we do

If you’ve ever attended a language class in a school you will know that it is a time consuming and slow process. You often left the class not sure what you learned despite it being quite entertaining.

You probably realized that the school was employing freelancers who weren’t quite as invested in your learning. Worse still, they might have been native francophones teaching you French according to what makes sense to them.

OuiCommunicate made several big changes. Firstly, we are not in the business of selling “time”. We sell skill, first and foremost.

For this reason, we don’t charge beginners by the hour. We organize short “meetups” to check your understanding of our French program. These meetups take place whenever you feel comfortable. You can literally stretch the value of each class by bringing with you hours of background work. We will be waiting by with a list of questions to make sure you have understood.

You purchase access to our resources for a period of 6 months, during which time you can use your 15 meetups as you wish. When you get to the end of them, you either have the choice to do more of the same or to try conversing with a teacher. (Plan 2 lower down on this page)

We base our classes on the actual human capacity to focus for 20 mins straight. Shorter classes for a targeted evaluation of your French skills.

There is a starting point and an end point to our program. You could even do it all in 40 classes if you have the desire. (Visit the plan here.)

Whichever learning plan you choose, you will be welcomed as an individual who matters to us. We are interested in your backstory, your trials and tribulations learning French, as well as your hopes.

We are university-qualified Linguists, teachers, native speakers of English and of French and we wish to make your success a reality.

What do they want AI to do?

Throwing out the word “AI” seems to turn any job into a job half-finished already. It will be better executed and finished a lot faster.

But aside from these encouraging dreams, what would these language platform builders have AI do exactly? Teach, yes but how?

How does a non-entity such as AI know what to do according to each learner? What will it do when the learner is tired, sad, or not in the mood?

Will AI follow a pre-determined course or will it improvise with each student? How will it weigh the importance of grammar? Will the program be designed to do several things or just one?

Is the purpose to save on human costs? Will the learner stay engaged when dealing with a non-entity? What prevents the student from losing interest or flaking? How is learning with AI any different than a textbook and how will it save the student from making an effort?
