Notes on our French sessions

Summary: We had our first talk on Dec 19 and I learned that Ed is 64 and almost lives in France full time. He is from Boston. He considers himself to have to background in French. he took Latin in high school. he did French with a student for a year 1/2. (private lessons) He did Duolingo. Ed signed up for classes at AF but it didn’t work for him. Ed has French family. They also speak English and Arabic. He is picking up nothing from listening. They speak too fast. Ed wants structure and drills. He wants exercises. He knows basic vocab. he gets overwhelmed when other speak too fast around him. he considers himself a basic learner at this stage. he has time and motivation to dedicate to French.
First learning plan:
1. In the pronunciation section:
– Introduction to 4 basic sounds of French
– The sounds and letters of French
2. In the conjugation section:
– The present tense of ER verbs
– The present tense of OIR verbs
