Every single industry has traditions that are begging to be improved, and education is no exception. Too often, students buy hours of learning, to then sit opposite a teacher and later leave the classroom with a small fraction of the hour they paid for.
Here’s a fact: you are NOT leaving the class with an hour’s worth of knowledge. Perhaps 25% at the most. Which means you’re wasting 3/4 of every hour you pay for. We’re not in this business. We refuse to “pretend teach” and carry you through a class of which you will remember almost nothing.
OuiCommunicate rather sells you French SKILLS instead of selling you classes by the hour. This step forward necessitates a structure that is different from the norm: A beautiful online platform that covers close to the entire French language!
We’ve done everything we could to make French assessible to you through clear and gradual explanations. “I am an American living in France, and Chris has been my French teacher for two and a half years. A list of the reasons why Chris should be YOUR teacher would require a much longer review than this one.
To be brief, I have made a list of just two reasons:
1) Chris has the extremely rare ability to speak both French and English equally well, perfectly, and without the interference and distraction of a foreign accent. Many teachers claim to be bilingual. Some of them are lying. Others are merely inadequate compared to Chris. Chris is what I like to call a freak of nurture. He grew up in a household where his English mother would only speak English, and his Belgian father would only speak French. This may not have made for the best marriage, but it produced a sacred monster, as they say in France (in French, of course). In short, Chris will understand you perfectly and explain everything to you in a way that you will understand perfectly. He creates his brilliant exercises to this end.
2) Chris will liberate you. He will open a door for you, as he did for me. The best and easiest way to learn a language is to learn how it works — not to learn tricks. I have seen from Chris’s teaching method that knowing how French works is the best trick of all. From there, you can figure things out for yourself and amaze yourself and others. During the short period of time I have been in France, not only have I made countless friends (from farmers to diplomats!) with whom I have had extended and sparkling conversations full of nuance, humor, and pathos, but I have also (with the assistance of a great surgeon and many other medical experts) helped my non-French-speaking husband to recover from the heart attack he had while in France. I served as his interpreter. Pretty good, eh?

“Chris has been and continues to be an excellent instructor. I’ve been taking his lessons for a few months and have progressed far beyond anything I ever learned in High School (though to be fair to my high school teacher it was no fault to her!). The two key points I’ve found are the real human feedback, something that was never available in any of the apps I tried and the consistency in the instruction. Chris knows where you are in your learning because he is your only teacher and recommends lesson modules based on your level. Additionally if a particular lesson doesn’t quite make sense to you he has the background to be able to provide another approach that may resonate better. “I stumbled upon OuiCommunicate’s program via YouTube, and after watching their eye-opening video on the subjunctive, I decided to visit the website.
I signed up for a free trial class, had a phone conversation with Chris, and then met online to explore the program. Excitedly, I enrolled in the Level 2 course.
