About the classes
Thanks to the Internet, there is no more need to be present in the same room to conduct a successful language class. There are actually many reasons why in-person classes are less effective, slower and quickly lead to becoming “hobby-classes”.
Probably not the best approach if you want to learn French with intent.
OuiCommunicate is a coursework-based language school. We have the French language available for you on our website in the form of worksheets, videos and quizzes.
You only pay for the 20-minute meetups with your teacher, in which we assess your understanding of specific parts of French.
Speaking French will gradually be integrated as you develop better tools. French will be taught to you as a speaker of English, with full understanding of your background.
As a result, you can expect to build strong foundations in French to become a confident speaker. You will have all the tools to grow and develop as an independent speaker of French.

A word about Wavre...
Why Wavre specifically? And how does this American teacher even know about our little Walloon town anyway? you might wonder.
Well, the truth is that I’m from just up the road and I have over 30 years’ experience in and around Wavre. At one point it was one of the coolest places to hang out in the country because of the giant roller-disco!
I also went to the boy scouts in Basse Wavre in the early 90s. It was a handy town to reach from Overijse with the TEC bus.
I’m a Belgian Brit who now lives in the USA, after several years living in the UK. In a sense, I’m from everywhere! I was last in Belgium in October 2024 to see my parents and my brother.
The online language school I run aims to help expats who have English as a first language. We found it makes learning immeasurably easier when the teacher knows English as well as the student.
A typical French teacher can never truly know what it feels like to approach French. There are many natural obstacles to learning French that exist because of the nature of English. As such we have the ability to accelerate your learning and to prevent long-lasting errors from happening.
The second point that quite distinguishes us is in our flexibility. We wanted to challenge the age-old notion of “class” in which too much time was lost.
Out of the 60 minutes, not much learning actually happens. It is also a big commitment that many professionals can’t manage.
The way we teach you French is through the spectrum of English. We will clearly tell you where the differences lie and what to pay attention to. We will hear the slightest influence of English if it ever slips into your French.
When you sign up for classes, the learning material is given to you on this website. We will advise you on which topics to work (according to your level) and we will meet you when you are ready to be evaluated on your latest learning.
The more we learn together, the more we will speak French. Each class is only 20 minutes and goes straight to the essentials.
